About snapchat and its use:

Snapchat is a famous emerging app these days having the feature of both a messaging platform and a social network. It exists only as a mobile app one can download to his/her iPhone or Android smartphone.

      Uses:
  • Users can “chat” with their friends by sending them photos or short videos up to 10 seconds long.
  • One can sort of think of it to be like texting with pictures or videos.
  • Text chats and video calls are two other features that were added more recently to the app.

Snapchat map:A new trending feature

Snapchat’s latest feature is Snap map, which lets us share our location with our Snapchat friends. One can view their location on a map, updating when we open the photo messaging app.We will be able to see where our Snapchat friends are hanging out exactly and what are they doing there if they have shared it as a story.

Snapchat released the update saying ‘We’ve built a whole new way to explore the whole world! See what’s happening around us by finding our friends, and get inspired to go on an adventure!’.

  • In Snapchat style, the new Snap Map is rather hidden within the app.
  • To access the Snap Map, one has to go to the main camera screen and pinch into the screen “like you’re zooming out from a photo".
  • Snap Map could pose a potential threat to a user's privacy given as many might choose to share their location at a given time point of time on Snap Map willingly, unaware of the fact that their current location is being updated and will going to be visible to friends each time whenever they will open the app.

Snapchat filters:A fun feature

Instagram is not the only one rocking among cool filters – Snapchat has some too, and they call them Lenses. There are typical vintage ones, as well as some showing information about the image (time, temperature, location, displacement, etc.).

After we take a Snap, swipe right or left on the preview screen to add colored filters on that snap, the current time, local weather, speed overlays or Geofilters to the Snaps. For that we have to learn how to enable them.  After taking the Snap and applying the first Filter, press and hold then swipe to add another.

Geofilters are creative overlays which capture where we are or what we're up to in a Snap! We can create our own, and surprise Snapchatters in the locations that we choose.

Snapchat Android

The Android O release will ultimately become an Android 8.0. For that, Google has already shared a timeline for rollout of each of the preview build with second developer preview soon arriving during Google I/O as expected, so with the third due in mid-June and the fourth in mid-July. Also, the public version of Android 8.0 will be out for supported Pixel, Nexus as well as Android One devices sometime in Q3, most likely in late August or early September.
